France wins the 52nd Tour de l’Abitibi

Amos, July 17, 2022 – Gavin Hadfield from team Canada won this seventh and last stage of Tour de l’Abitibi. He was in a break away for the last 5 km in the race, which determined the three riders ending up on the podium. The second place went to Sasha Renaud-Tremblay from team Canada, and the third place went to Vaughn Veenendaal from team USA.

They were able to gain 35 seconds on the pack within the last km of the race. The bunch was therefore unable to catch up to them. Evan Boyle from team USA was also in a break away, for the most part of the stage, but he crashed and went back in the pack. A few chasing groups were formed during the race, without any result.

In general ranking, Lucas Mainguenaud from the national team of France is crowned grand winner of the 52nd edition of the Tour de l’Abitibi and wins the brown jersey. His teammate Mathieu Dupé wins the orange jersey, given to the points leader, as Mathéo Barusseau wins blue jersey, given to the best rookie rider. The polka dots jersey went to Luke Valenti, from Toronto Hustle Junior Cycling, who wore it all weak.

Junior Nations’ Cup

Before the week started, France had 7 points behind Belgium in the ICU ranking. The results from this stage of the Junior Nations’ Cup allowed France to gain enough points to get ahead of Belgium and take the first rank.
