2nd stage of the Tour de l’Abitibi Glencore presented by the Government of Québec
Val-d’Or, July 17, 2024 – It was New Zealander Oliver Scott, currently racing with the American team NorthStar Development Cycling, who won this second stage, presented by the Government of Quebec. Jack Diemar of the United States national team closely followed and took the second place on the podium. Canadian Jayden McMullen secured the bronze medal.
The race was quite fast-paced, with an average speed of 46.7 km/h. A thrilling finish in the final sprint left Scott victorious. In the general classification, Ellande Larronde earned the brown jersey for the second consecutive day. Ben Morin of PNW Racing and Carl Truffer of the Canadian team also retained their respective blue and orange jerseys. The polka dots jersey is now in the hands of French rider Lohann Vulliez.
Stage 3, presented by Eldorado Gold Quebec, and Stage 4, presented by Agnico Eagle
On Thursday, July 18, there will be two half-stages. Stage 3 will be the individual time trial. The first start will be at 9:00 AM at the Cité de l’or in Val-d’Or. Riders will complete a 10 km round trip in front of the Rotary Tower of Val-d’Or. Stage 4 will take place in Malartic, where the riders will make a round trip to Cadillac, covering a distance of 57.5 km. The start will be at 6:15 PM in front of the Belvédère Park, with the finish expected at 7:32 PM at the same location.
